Job Overview
This internship is structured as a learning-centered, experiential education opportunity designed to provide students and early-career individuals with practical exposure to hospitality and tourism marketing in a real-world setting.
Interns will learn directly from experienced marketing professionals while observing and participating in content creation projects that support recruitment and brand storytelling on Mackinac Island. The internship emphasizes skill development, mentorship, portfolio building, and professional growth, rather than routine operational work.
This role is best suited for individuals who are already living and working on Mackinac Island and are seeking to supplement their primary employment with a meaningful educational experience in marketing. Scheduling is flexible and project-based to ensure the internship complements, rather than replaces, other work or academic commitments.

Internship Activities
Assist with capturing photos and short-form video content around Mackinac Island
Participate in on-location content projects for hospitality and tourism clients
Learn how content is planned, organized, and prepared for marketing use
Upload and organize content as part of the learning process
Apply feedback and instruction related to branding and storytelling
Activities are designed to enhance learning and may vary depending on educational goals and skill development.
Eligibility & Requirements
Must already be employed in a separate position on Mackinac Island or live nearby and commute
Must already have housing secured (housing is not provided)
Available on a flexible, project-based basis
Comfortable using a smartphone to capture photos and videos (camera experience is a plus, but not required)
Dependable, communicative, and interested in learning professional marketing practice
Interest in marketing, social media, hospitality, tourism, or content creation
Academic Credit
Mackinac Works is happy to work with colleges and universities to support academic credit, internship documentation, learning objectives, and evaluations, as required by the student’s academic program.
